Meditations for Pro-Life Stations of the Cross

The First Station: Jesus is Condemned to Death
Though innocent, Jesus is condemned by the power of the State. In like manner, our innocent brothers and sisters in the womb have been condemned. Their rights and dignity are not recognized. In this, they bear a special likeness to Jesus.

Each time he looked, his friends were asleep. At such a crisis how could they sleep?
Today, Christ is crucified again each time an infant is aborted: what we do
to the least of his brethren, we do to him. Must we also fall asleep?
Rather, let us watch and pray.

God and Father of Life, You have created every human person,
And have opened the way for each to have eternal life.
One Our Father:

The Second Station: Jesus is Made to Bear His Cross
The salvation of the world carried a heavy price for our Lord, the agony of the cross. As He accepts His cross, let us also resolve to endure suffering that others may live. Let us pay the price for standing up for our preborn brothers and sisters.

Most proabortionists are too hypocraticly respectable to do themselves what they
advocate: they hand over the baby to others to be mutilated and killed.
Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
insults from friends are even worse. How painful for him to receive back, a tortured,
mutilated baby, when he sent a unique gift of life.

We live in the shadow of death. Tens of millions of your children have been killed because of the Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion.
One Our Father:

The Third Station: Jesus Falls the First Time
Almighty God was weak because He chose to be like us. He had power and glory from all eternity, yet He chose to be immersed in the world of suffering. We pray that the benefits and advantages we have in life may not cause us to forget our pre-born brothers and sisters.

like a lamb to the slaughter. He had been given a couple of token trials, before the Sanhedrin
and Pilate. But they were only gestures: the minds of the intellectuals had
been made up. His death would solve a problem. He was ready for all this.
He had taught that what was hidden from the wise and prudent was revealed to
little ones.

Father, have mercy on us.
Heal our land And accept our offering of prayer and penance.
In your love for us, Turn back the scourge of abortion.
One Our Father:

The Fourth Station: Jesus Meets His Afflicted Mother
There is no deeper relationship than that of mother and child. They belong together. When one suffers, the other suffers. To love and defend one means to love and defend the other. To be pro-life means to serve both the child and the mother. It means to ask our society, "Why can't we love them both?"

May all mothers know that no matter how heavy their cross seems to be, that You are there Lord, helping them carry it. May every mother knows that as You fell three times, You are there for them, when they fall. You will lift them into Your arms. You are there with each child carried in the womb.

May each of us exult in hearts full of hope
And hands full of mercy And work together to build a culture of life.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
One Our Father:

The Fifth Station:
The Cyrenian Helps Jesus to Carry His Cross
Many watched the Lord suffer. Simon the Cyrenian helped alleviate that suffering. Many lament abortion. Some actually get involved to help to stop it. We pray that all people may take their active place in the pro-life movement.

Abortion is an unbelievable act of Selfishness. There are three victims; the Mother, The Father, and the Child.
Some suffer a life long torment as a result of abortion, many resort to suicide. The many helps available in
the Pro Life movement are there to assist in the alleviating this agony. May all extend the arms of mercy in helping them with this cross.

Prayer for our Courts and Judges Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of our nation. You alone rule the world with justice,
Yet you place in our hands the solemn duty  of participating in the shaping of our government.
One Our Father:

The Sixth Station: Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus
The compassion Veronica shows reflects the compassion of so many medical doctors and nurses, who treat their patients with dignity. We pray for repentance and renewal in the medical profession. May the tools and skills meant for healing nevermore be used for killing.

May we all act as Veronica did with compassion on both victims and the victimizer in acts of kindness and exhortation
convincing gently the inhumanity of this horror and scourge of wanton slaughter.

I pray today for our President and Senators  Who have the responsibility of placing judges on our courts. Please protect this process from all obstruction. Please send us men and women of wisdom, Who respect Your law of Life.
One Our Father:

The Seventh Station: Jesus Falls the Second Time
In working to defend life, there are many setbacks and obstacles. Yet we know the meaning of the cross. In weakness, power reaches perfection. We do not look to our own strengths and talents alone, but to Christ. His own strength will sustain us.

Out of any failure the seeds of success are planted. We fall and we pick ourselves up just as Jesus did. He did
not shrink from the task set before him alone and bloodied he continued.

Please send us judges with humility, Who seek Your truth and not their own opinions. Lord, give all of us the courage we need to do what is right  And to serve you, the Judge of all, with fidelity.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
One Our Father:

The Eighth Station: Jesus Speaks to the Women of Jerusalem
Christ told these women to weep for themselves and for their children. He does not want false worship, but repentance. He does not want followers who cry out to Him but then ignore injustice and bloodshed. May all who believe in Christ likewise stand up for the defenseless children.

Abortionists and those procuring abortions do not see the offense against almighty God only looking at an immediate solution
and of course the monetary gains involved. Silence implies complicity therefor sharing in the judgement sure to come. May we stand
up in faith to work to end this evil knowing that God is for us in our effort.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139: 13-14
One Our Father:

The Ninth Station: Jesus Falls the Third Time
Despite the falls, nothing can stop our Lord, because He is on a mission of love. If the pro-life movement is not a movement of love, it is nothing at all, but if it is a movement of love, then nothing will stop it. Love is stronger than death, more powerful than hell.

Love of us is what gave him the strength to rise again. Love for our fellow man especially the most vulnerable
especially the unborn is the hallmark love of the Pro Life movement.

To those children who have been wantonly deprived of earthly life grant whatever happiness to which they are entitled, and to the mothers who have denied them life in this world, grant Your merciful grace of repentance and reconciliation with our Savior so that they may obtain eternal life in the next!
One Our Father:

The Tenth Station: Jesus is Stripped of His Garments
Nobody can stop us from loving our preborn brothers and sisters. Those stronger than we may strip us of popularity, possessions, or power, but they cannot strip us of love. We love others with the same love that Christ showed for us.

What kind of Love is it that make one stand in the rain holding a vigil or what kind of love is it that couples feel when
they adopt an aborted baby knowing the child is damaged? It takes a special love to absorb ridicule and often physical
attacks standing for life? Its is AGAPE love unconditional in all respects.

"How precious are your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.  When I awake, I am still with you."  Psalm 139: 17-18
One Our Father:

The Eleventh Station: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross
The powers of this world crucified the God who made this world. All power and authority come from God. All who exercise power have to account for it before the throne of God. We pray that those in government may use their powers to protect the innocent babies in the womb.

Jesus suffers again each time a baby suffers the cruel and agonizing death
of an abortion and feels the abandonment of its mother. Let us not now
abandon him or them. It is Jesus crucified in the womb!

God Himself will be with them, and He will be their God.
He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will
be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain.
One Our Father:

The Twelfth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross
Our Lord died. So many of His children have died with Him. His passion is re-lived with every abortion, one every twenty seconds in our country. We only know a fraction of the horror of this act in the sight of God. We only know a fraction of the horror of Christ's crucifixion. May all our brothers and sisters killed by abortion rest in Christ's peace and be saved by His cross.

Abortion is the rape of innocence. It is the tragic result of immorality in most cases and the abject lack of responsibility
of an act entered into. The child dies in the most horrible way imaginable.

Most of our failings, our sin, arise because we don't truly know how deeply God loves us and is with us in times of uncertainty.  The psalm describes the depth of God's love, how it outnumbers even the grains of sand, how God remains with us, and we with Him.
One Our Father:

The Thirteenth Station: Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross
Mary experienced the pain of holding her dead Son. So many mothers grieve after their abortions. We ask that Mary may comfort them, help them face the truth about abortion, and lead them to forgiveness and healing.

Mary and Elizabeth and John the Baptist, please pray to Jesus that our
society will treasure every human life from conception till natural death.

Lord of Life, We give you praise because all we know of You speaks of life, and goodness, and blessing. Yet, as we look at Your world, we are stricken with grief that so often we seem to see more that relates to death than to life. In the midst of such a world, help us to so order our lives that they will in turn express Your life.
One Our Father:

The Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
A tomb is a memorial. It helps us remember the one who can no longer speak. May we and our society remember the babies who cannot speak. May we also remember Our Lord's Resurrection, and His promise of eternal life. He has conquered abortion because He has conquered death. May we bring His victory to every part of our world!

In most cases the unborn have no memorial. The pro life movement is the memorial to them. That their lives will
and death will not be in vain.

Dear Lord, through Your Apostle, St. Paul, You've taught us that there are three great virtues, Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of all is Love. Help me to understand that in order to love You and to love my neightbor, I must be alive. Father, help me to value my life, and all life, and give me courage to respect, defend, and, if necesssary, die to protect the right of everyone to live as You will them to.
One Our Father:
Three Hail mary:
Three Glory Be:

Concluding Prayer:

Dear little infant Jesus, in honor of thy Holy Birth, and through thy Holy Mother, I pray that the innocents who will this day be murdered may find refuge and eternal glory before the throne of our Heavenly Father.
O God, Our Loving Creator, all life is in Your handsfrom the moment of fertilization until death. We are grateful for the privilege of sharing in Your work of creation. Enlighten and be merciful toward those who do not value the gift of life. Convert prochoice Catholics, prochoice judges and legislatures. Inspire them to seek and find the truth in You. God our Father, You were pleased to Bless the Virgin Mary with the gift of bringing Your Son into the world. Graced with the Word of God within Her, She brought forth Your New and Eternal Life to all creation. We pray You that as You guided Mary, protect and guide all women who carry new life within them. May they be ever conscious of the great Dignity they have been given.May they turn to You in constant prayer and be ever thankful of the Gift they carry within them.
We pray this in the name of Jesus, who is Lord of Life, now and forever. Amen.
