In going through the
lists of virtues we all can find many we are lacking. The best approach is to
work on them one at a time. Holding those in mind and selecting one; Let us
begin the meditation.
Act of Consecration to the
Holy Spirit
On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly
witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore
the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the
might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and
move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray
with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard
my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to
Your voice and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself
to You and ask You by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding
the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds and trusting in His
Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart I implore You,
Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, so to keep me in Your grace that I may
never sin against You. Give me grace O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the
Son to say to You always and everywhere "Speak Lord for Your servant heareth."
Amen.
Prayer for the seven gifts of the Holy
spirit.
O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, didst
promise to send the Holy Ghost to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles
and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in
my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love.
Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom
that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the
things that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind
with the light of Thy divine truth,
the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever
choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven,
the Spirit of
Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee, and that I may overcome with
courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation,
the Spirit of Knowledge
that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the
Saints,
the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and
amiable,
the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence
towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with
the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy
Spirit.
Amen
Meditation
Prayer to St. Joan of
Arc
Valiant St. Joan, Maid of Orleans, to you I offer this meditation
(Mention the virtue you are meditating)
in
hope that you may guide me in my effort to perfect myself in your virtues and
trust in God’s will.
Inspire me from this hour forth to accept God’s will
unquestioningly, just as you did
when obeying the saintly voices of His
messengers in the fields of Domremy.
Beloved Maid help me to perfect myself
in the virtues to become more like you.
Pray for me to be compassionate,
serving God by serving those who are downtrodden
and poor in spirit. Obtain
for me the strength and courage to defend God’s mission of
love and justice
and to lead by the example of piety, truth, forgiveness, and
faith
unwavering. Come to my aid as I pray ardently for God’s mercy,
remembering to forgive others,
even in times of persecution. Dauntless
Warrior Saint, beseech our Heavenly Father, in
honor of His Holy Passion, to
grant me the courage to speak truth in the face of
adversity and the
initiative to step forth in spiritual battle for Him. Equipped for every good
work.
O chaste and steadfast Maid, galvanize my spirit that I may strive in
each moment to be
placed in God’s grace. And may I recall that like you in
battle, I am to be a soldier for
the Lord in this life, for it is He who
shall give victory. Amen.
Concluding Prayer of Saint Joan of
Arc.
"O Holy Spirit soul of my soul I adore
you.
Enlighten guide, strengthen and console me.
Tell me what I ought to
do and command me to do it.
I promise to submit to everything that you
ask of me
and to accept all that you allow to happen to me.
Just show me
what is your will."
Holy
Father I ask my patron Saint, Saint Joan of Arc to place this
petition
before you. I pray this under her patronage thru the Immaculate
Heart
of The Blessed Virgin Mary and Our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and
reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit One God forever
Amen.
Obviously this is probably a life time undertaking but going
through the lists you also have identified those you have
already that
perhaps need more amplifying in your life. Many I am sure you have discovered
that you would like to have.
Between the two pages and the history of Saint
Joan you have come to know her far better and will know more using this
page.
My heart has often ached because we only have a brief glimpse of her in
time. But for her devotees they know her in the Spirit
and completely know
her as God knows her what a wonderful experience.
